Lesser Known Features of ADHD
A quick google search will give a list of the common symptoms associated with ADHD including inattention, distractibility, and hyperactivity. However, there are many other features that are common, but not widely discussed outside of those diagnosing and treating ADHD symptoms. These include:
- Restraint Collapse-the energy needed to maintain self-control to follow behavior and social expectations all day leads to exhaustion and a release of energy and emotions at home in the form of tantrums.
- Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria-intense emotional pain associated with rejection and criticism or failure.
- Sensory Processing Disorder-becoming overwhelmed by sensory stimuli.
- Hyperfocus-intense focus and attention on things that are interesting.
